DC Circulator to Modify Service for DC Half Marathon on Sunday, September 18, 2022

 

The DC Half  Marathon will lead to road closures affecting the National Mall route. To accommodate this event, the following service changes will be in effect on Sunday, September 18, 2022, from 9:00 am until 12:00 pm or when traffic returns to normal.

The National Mall route will be operating the Museum Loop. This loop serves the museums along the National Mall but will not serve the following stops along the Tidal Basin or near the Lincoln Memorial listed below:

  • 15th SW / Jefferson Drive
  • 15th SW near Maine Ave
  • Basin Dr. SW near Independence Ave
  • Lincoln Memorial Circle SW
  • Constitution Ave. NW / 21st Street
  • Constitution Ave. NW / 18th Street
  • 15th NW / Madison Drive

Once the marathon has concluded and the streets reopen, the National Mall route will resume regular service.

DC Circulator to Modify Service for DC Bike Ride on Saturday, September 10, 2022

The DC Bike Ride will lead to road closures affecting critical areas of the following routes the National Mall, Georgetown – Union Station, and Dupont Circle – Rosslyn. To accommodate the event, see the following service impacts that will go into effect at the start of service at 7:00 am until 2:00 pm Saturday, September 10, 2022.

 

The DC Circulator service on the Dupont Circle– Rosslyn and the National Mall route will be suspended from 7:00 am until 2:00 pm or until the streets reopen for regular traffic.

 

The Union Station – Georgetown route will begin service with the buses detouring; the buses will continue around Washington Circle NW to Pennsylvania Ave NW and then continue service on M St NW to Wisconsin Ave NW. The following bus stops below will not be served.

  • K St & 24th NW
  • Lower K St. & 30th NW
  • Lower K St. & Wisconsin Ave NW
  • Wisconsin Ave & M St NW

Once the activities conclude and the streets reopen, all routes will resume regular service.

DC Circulator to Modify Service for DC Bike Ride on Saturday, September 10, 2022

The DC Bike Ride will lead to road closures affecting critical areas of the following routes: the National Mall, Georgetown – Union Station, and Dupont Circle – Rosslyn. To accommodate the event, see the following service impacts that will go into effect at the start of service at 7:00 am until 2:00 pm Saturday, September 10, 2022.

 

The DC Circulator service on the Dupont Circle– Rosslyn route will be suspended from 7:00 am until 2:00 pm or until the streets reopen for regular traffic.

 

The Union Station – Georgetown route will begin service with the buses detouring around Washington Circle NW to Pennsylvania Ave NW and then continuing service on M St NW to Wisconsin Ave NW. The following bus stops below will not be served.

DC Circulator to Detour National Mall Route Service for the NAAMHC Hip Hop Block Party on Saturday, August 13, 2022

 

The NAAMHC Block Party will lead to road closures affecting the National Mall route. Critical segments of the route will be affected to accommodate this block party event.

The closure of 15th Street between Constitution Avenue and Independence Avenue will impact the National Mall route in multiple locations. Therefore, the National Mall route service will begin detour service at 9:00 am on Saturday, August 13, 2022, until 2 am.

Detour route: after servicing the Madison Drive and 12th St. bus stop # 4, buses will turn left at 14th St NW. The buses will continue on 14th St., turning right onto Independence Avenue. The buses will turn left onto 15th Street (Raoul Wallenberg Place), continuing the regular route.

The following DC Circulator bus stops on 15th Street will not be served:

  • Stop # 5 15th and Madison Drive NW
  • Stop # 12 15th and Jefferson Drive, NW

 

On Sunday, August 14, 2022, regular service will resume at all DC Circulator bus stops.

Service Alert: National Mall Route service impacted by July 4th celebrations.

 

DC Circulator National Mall Route Service will not be operating on July 4, 2022

 

The National Mall and Memorial Parks Independence Day celebrations planned road closures and safety measures will prevent the operation of the National Mall route on Monday, July 4, 2022. Regular service on the National Mall route will be reinstated on Tuesday, July 5, 2022.

All other DC Circulator routes will operate on July 4, 2022.

DC Circulator to Detour National Mall Route Service for Something in the Water Music Festival

 

The Music Festival will lead to road closures affecting the National Mall route. Critical segments of the National Mall route will be effected to accommodate the event.

Road closures on Madison Drive and Jefferson Drive will impact the National Mall route in multiple locations. Therefore, the National Mall route will begin detour service on Friday, June 17, 2022, at 6:00 am in a modified Tidal Basin Loop using Constitution Avenue to connect Union Station.

The detour route for DC Circulator Buses:

From: E Street (Union Station), West Bound

  • Right onto Columbus Circle NE
  • Right onto Louisiana Ave NE
  • Right onto North Capitol Street NE
  • Left onto E Street  NW
  • Continue to Pennsylvania Avenue NW
  • Left onto 15th Street
  • Continue regular service westbound to the Lincoln Memorial

 

From Constitution Avenue and 18th Street NW Eastbound:

  • Left onto 12th Street
  • Right onto E Street
  • Continue to E Street (Union Station)

 

The following DC Circulator bus stops below will not be served:

  • 2: Madison Drive NW / 4th Street
  • 3: Madison Drive NW / 7th Street
  • 4: Madison Drive NW / 12th Street
  • 13: Jefferson Drive SW / 12th Street
  • 14: Jefferson Drive SW / 7th Street
  • 15: 3rd Street / Madison Dr. NW

Regular service will resume at all DC Circulator bus stops on Monday, June 21, 2022.

Georgetown-Union Station Route

Road closures for the Lawyers Have Heart 5k/10k will impact critical areas of the Georgetown-Union Station route on Lower K Street NW on Saturday, June 11, 2022. To accommodate the event, starting at 7:00 am, buses traveling in the westbound direction will not use lower K Street NW, after Washington Circle NW. The buses will  proceed instead along Pennsylvania Avenue and M Street NW

The following bus stops in the Westbound direction will not be served:

  • Lower K Street NW / 30th Street
  • Lower K Street NW / Wisconsin Avenue
  • Wisconsin Avenue NW / M Street

Regular service will resume at all stops once race activities have finished at 11:00 am or as road closures allow.

Woodley Park-Adams Morgan-McPherson Square Metro Route

Road closures for the Capital Pride Parade will impact critical areas of the Woodley Park-Adams Morgan-McPherson Square route on 14th Street NW on Saturday, June 11, 2022. To accommodate the event, the route will detour temporarily from 14th Street. NW to 13th Street NW starting at 3:00 pm.

The following bus stops will not be served during the detour:

  • 14th St. NW / Rhode Island Ave. (Northbound)
  • 14th St. NW / U Street. (Southbound)
  • 14th St. NW / P Street. (Southbound)

Once parade activities have finished at 8:00 pm, or as road closures allow, regular service will resume at all stops.

DC Circulator will Modify Service on Georgetown to Union Station Route this Saturday for the 7th Street Open Streets Event.

Saturday, June 4, 2022

The 7th Street Open Streets event will impact critical sections of the Georgetown – Union Station route service on Saturday, June 4, 2022.

Buses will not service the following bus stops:

  • Massachusetts Ave & 7th St. NW (Eastbound or Westbound)
  • New York Ave & 9th St. NW (Westbound)

The 7th Street Open Streets event begins from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, and buses may begin the detour service as early as 7:00 am at the start of service.

Detour Route:

Buses traveling from Union Station to Georgetown:

After servicing the Massachuttes Ave & 5th St. NW (Eastbound), the buses will turn right at 5th St. NW, and then buses will turn left at I, St. NW. The buses will then turn left at 6th St. NW, and the buses will make a left onto Massachusetts Ave., resuming eastbound service to Union Station.

Buses traveling from Georgetown to Union Station:

After servicing the K & 13th St. NW bus stop, the buses will continue K St. NW to 9th St NW. The buses will turn right at 9th St and then turn right onto New York Ave NW and resume westbound service to Georgetown at New York Ave & 9th St. NW bus stop.

DC Circulator will Modify Service on the National Mall Route on Monday

 May 30, 2022

The parade route will affect the DC Circulator route from service opening until 5:30 pm. Therefore, the following service changes will begin Saturday, May 30, 2022, at the start of service.

National Mall Route: Service will detour from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. or until traffic returns to normal.

Buses will detour after serving stop 8 at MLK. The buses will turn right onto Independence Avenue SW. The buses will then make a left turn at 15th St. NW and then a right turn onto Jefferson Drive, continuing the regular route.

  • Stop 9 / Lincoln Memorial Circle SW
  • Stop 10 / Constitution Ave NW & 21 St NW
  • Stop 11 / Constitution Ave NW & 18 St NW
  • Stop 12 / 15th St & Madison Drive NW

DC Circulator will Modify Service on Congress Heights to Union Station Route this Saturday for the Martin Luther King Avenue (MLK) Open Streets Event

Saturday, May 21, 2022

The MLK Open Streets will impact critical sections of the Congress Heights-Union Station Route. The MLK Open Streets event is scheduled along Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, SE, on Saturday, May 21, 2022.

Buses will not travel along Martin Luther King Jr Ave. and will not service the following stops:

  • Martin Luther King Jr., Ave. SE, Good Hope Rd SE (Northbound or Southbound)
  • Martin Luther King Jr. Ave. SE and W St. SE (Northbound or Southbound)

The MLK Open Streets event begins from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, and buses may begin the detour service as early as 7:00 am at the start of service.

Detour Route:

Buses traveling from Congress Heights – Union Station:

After servicing the 11th St, SE, and O St, SE bus stop, the buses will continue the 11th St Bridge, making a right turn at I-295 South. Then the buses will utilize exit #4 to Howard Rd. making a right turn into the Anacostia Metro Station. The buses will continue regular service to the Congress Heights Metro Station.

Buses traveling from Congress Heights to Union Station:

The buses departing Anacostia Metro Station will exit the station making a left turn on Howard Rd. Then the buses will make a right turn at First Sterling Dr. and continue unto I-295 North. The buses will utilize exit # 4 to the 11th Street Bridge, making a left onto the 11th Street Bridge and continuing regular service to Union Station.
