DC Circulator Summer Service Hours Start April 1
Summer Season Means Longer Service and Saturday Extensions

(Washington, DC) Beginning April 1, the DC Circulator will run extended service hours for the summer season on the following two routes:

·         Union Station to Navy Yard route will run Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. - 9 p.m. and Saturdays, 7 a.m. - 9 p.m.  Extended service will be provided for Washington Nationals baseball games and buses along this route will run additional service on game days.

 

·         Potomac Ave - Skyland via Barracks Row route will run Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. – 9 p.m. and Saturdays, 7 a.m. – 9 p.m.  

Both routes are increasing service by 2 hours on weeknights and adding Saturday service. The extended hours will run through September 30, 2013.

Known for its convenient 10-minute headways, the Circulator costs one dollar a ride, with additional discounts for seniors and District students. More information about the routes and schedules is available at www.dccirculator.com.

Service Disruption: March 16 - Woodley Park - Adams Morgan - McPherson Square Metro

Due to road closures for the Rock n Roll Marathon, being held on the morning of Saturday, March 16, 2013, Circulator service will have disruptions in the Woodley Park and Adams Morgan neighborhoods.

Service will be suspended starting from Columbia Road to Woodley Park until the race ends and all roads are cleared and reopened. For now, we plan to suspend service from 7am - 2pm, or until roads are opened.

Buses will travel northbound towards Columbia Heights on 14th Street, turning around at Girard Street and continuing southbound, back on 14th Street. Supervisors will be posted at this intersection to help direct and answer questions.

No Circulator Service on Inauguration Day, January 21, 2013

Please be advised, due to the planned Presidential Inauguration security perimeter and vehicle restrictions on Monday, January 21, along with the need to use the Circulator bus fleet for special transportation assignments, there will be no Circulator service on Monday, January 21. Regular service will resume for all routes on Tuesday, January 22.

Service Alert: Sunday, January 13: Dupont-Georgetown-Rosslyn Route

January 10 2013

Due to construction* at Wisconsin Avenue and M Street, NW, the Dupont Circle - Georgetown - Rosslyn route will end service one hour early on Sunday, January 13, at 11pm. The last bus will leave Rosslyn at approximately 10:30pm. The Georgetown - Union Station route will turn around at Washington Circle beginning at 11pm Sunday until service ends at midnight. We apologize for any inconveniences and thank you for riding the DC Circulator.

*The intersection will be closed from 11pm Sunday, January 13, to 4am Monday, January 14.

New Year's Eve Extended Hours

December 21 2012

The DC Circulator will extend service hours for New Year’s Eve, Monday, December 31st. Service hours for the night will mirror weekend service hours for the following lines:

Georgetown - Union Station will remain in service from Whitehaven to McPherson Square until 2am.

Dupont Circle - Georgetown - Rosslyn will remain in service until 2am.

Woodley Park - Adams Morgan - McPherson Square will remain in service until 3:30am.

Union Station - Navy Yard and Potomac Ave - Skyland routes will end service at 7pm (their regular winter weekday hours).

Update: DC Circulator will resume full service at 2pm Tuesday, October 30.

Updated 12:30pm, Tuesday, October 30.
DC Circulator will resume full service at 2pm today, Tuesday, October 30, on all five routes. Service will maintain regular hours on Wednesday, October 31. Please allow extra time for travel as delays may occur due to storm cleanup. Continue to avoid standing water and as always, stay safe and thank you choosing the Circulator!

The DC Circulator will remain closed through Tuesday morning (October 30), but we hope to resume at least partial service Tuesday afternoon. DDOT will make a weather evaluation in the morning and check for downed trees or wires and flooding. If the routes are safe, DDOT anticipates having enough operators to resume limited service Tuesday afternoon. We'll provide additional information in the late morning. Until then, stay safe and dry!

Circulator Service Extended for Nationals Playoff Games Oct 10-12

October 9 2012

Circulator service hours will be extended on the Union Station - Navy Yard route to accommodate Nationals fans attending this week's playoff games.

  • Wednesday, October 10 (Game Time: 1pm) - Regular service hours will run due to early game time - 6am-7pm
  • Thursday, October 11 (Game Time: 4pm) - Service 6am - midnight (5 hours additional service)
  • Friday, October 12 (Game Time: 8:30pm) - Service 6am - 1am or until 45 minutes after end of game (6 additional service hours)

Please allow extra time for travel to and from the stadium. Information about all the transportation options for getting to Nationals Park is available online at nationals.com/waytogo.

Reminder: Slight route changes go into effect October 1, 2012

DDOT is implementing minor route adjustments on several lines of the DC Circulator, effective October 1, 2012. The changes include adding stops on Good Hope Road to the Potomac Avenue - Skyland via Barracks Row route and adjusting routes to provide more straightforward and simple routing on Union Station - Navy Yard and Potomac Avenue - Skyland via Barracks Row routes.

In efforts to encourage use of the Circulator to Adams Morgan, the Adams Morgan Partnership Business Improvement District is handing out free ride coupons.

Look out for this flyer on your car windshield next time you park in Adams Morgan. Safety Ambassadors are placing them on cars to encourage patrons to try out the Circulator on their next trip to Adams Morgan. Simply take your flyer to any participating merchants (listed on the flyer) and you will receive a free ride coupon for the Circulator.

Service Alert - Georgetown-Union Station Route: June 2

Due to the Taste of Georgetown event scheduled for June 2, 2012, westbound service to Georgetown/Whitehaven will operate normal service to Washington Circle. Service will then continue straight onto Pennsylvania Avenue to M St and then make a right turn onto Wisconsin Avenue. The following two (2) stops will not be serviced: 30th and K St. and Wisconsin and K St. There will be no impact to eastbound service other than possible traffic delays. We appreciate your patience.

Georgetown - Union Station route detour due to IMF-World Bank Conference: April 20-22

Please be advised: This weekend's IMF & World Bank Conference, April 20-22, will affect service on the Georgetown-Union Station route in both directions. Buses traveling on K Street in the direction of Georgetown will not be permitted to turn left on to 21st Street, towards Pennsylvania Avenue. Instead, buses will be using the K Street service road to enter Washington Circle. Buses heading eastbound towards Union Station will continue around Washington Circle with a slight detour onto the K Street service road.

DDOT Launches Redesigned DCCirculator.com

(Washington, D.C.)  The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) launched a new, redesigned website for the DC Circulator today. The new DCCirculator.com features more interactive, modern visuals and creates a more user-friendly platform to display bus route and bus information in an easy-to-view format.  The website completes a set of changes for the DC Circulator that began this past September including the addition of the new Potomac Avenue-Skyland route and the consolidation of stops along various routes to increase efficiency and overall service.

Stop changes to Georgetown-Union Station route

Several closely spaced Circulator stops will be consolidated or eliminated along the Georgetown-Union Station route. While this may require an extra walk of one or two blocks, reducing the number of closely spaced stops will speed buses along the route and help us maintain our reliable 10-minute headways to get you where you want to go faster. Circulator is adding one stop at the request of the nearby community, at the very end of the Georgetown-Union Station route where it turns around on 35th Street NW.

New Circulator-ART Transfers with SmarTrip Card
